[img align=left]https://i.imgur.com/tcPDpI7.png[/img]Professor Appoline Persnickety raised her arms high to call for silence from the chatting students and faculty. Once the hall quieted, she smiled broadly at them.

“Welcome once again to another year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! It feels so good to be back at the castle, don’t you think? I can appreciate the Ilvermorny castle, but nothing quite says ‘home’ like the Hogwarts castle.”

Some of the students murmured and nodded their heads in agreement.

“For those of you just joining us, you missed out on quite the tournament! Hogwarts did not win, but you fought a good fight. I am proud of all of you! Hopefully the friendships you made with the students of Ilvermorny and the Alexandrian Academy will last until your golden years.

“But alas, I digress. Before you all lose interest, daydreaming about the feast, I have a few announcements. We have had few changes of staff since we have returned. Professor Sparks has stepped down from her post as the Care of Magical Creatures professor. Replacing Professor Sparks as Head of Gryffindor will be Professor Christopher Norman! We are glad he has decided to postpone his retirement for a little while longer.

“Joining us as our new Care of Magical Creatures teacher is Professor Rosa Pinto! Professor Pinto comes to us from Portugal, though she has traveled all over the world, and is ready to share with you all she knows about the magical creatures she’s encountered over the years.”

Professor Persnickety motioned to an older witch to her left. Rosa Pinto nodded to the students eyeing her and gave a small smile.

“Professor Pinto is not the only new member of our staff. Ancient Runes has a new professor as well. Professor Chloe Foster has decided to not return from her maternity leave, choosing to spend more time with her new baby girl. Bryan Parkhurst has also finished his assignment as her assistant, having found a new position within the Ministry of Magic.” Professor Persnickety paused as younger woman entered the hall. “Ah, and here is their replacement now. I’d like you all to meet Professor Aimee Torres Rosario. Professor Torres is a native from the Dominican Republic, but an alum from Hogwarts. We’re glad to have her back!”

Professor Torres blushed and waved sheepishly, then took her seat at the staff table. The man sitting at the table next to her was failing to hide his laughter. Professor Persnickety cleared her throat, and the man stopped.

“Next to Professor Torres is our new Arithmancy professor, Professor Kay Jäger. Professor Jäger joins us as Professor Skye makes his way to the United States to be with his family.

Lastly, we have a new librarian joining us this term! Please welcome Mister Jasper Cassidy to our staff. You’ll find he’s very… passionate about the books. I feel he will be an asset to the team.”

Seeing that the students were beginning to grow impatient, Professor Persnickety tried to wrap up the rest of her announcements as quickly as possible to allow for the feasting to begin.

“Before I let you all focus on quieting your now growling stomachs, I just wanted to remind all of you that the Forbidden Forest is strictly off limits without being accompanied by a teacher. You will all be thankful to hear that there are no other restricted areas this year--” Professor Persnickety’s gaze found Mister Cassidy. She cleared her throat once more. “Other than the restricted section of the library, as Mister Cassidy’s glare as just now reminded me.”

Laughter came from the students, some sounding a bit apprehensive.

“At last, let’s get this feast under way! Tuck in!”

I'm going to start off our chat with my 3 things!

1. I wouldn't have met my husband if it weren't for Harry Potter. I met him in an AOL chat room that was dedicated to HP roleplay when I was 14!
2. I have a guilty pleasure for watching shows like Teen Mom 2 and 90's House.
3. I forgot my own birthday when setting the dates for this term! My birthday is the last day of the term this time, and I didn't even realize it until pointed it out to me.

2. I have a plant collection that is somewhere in the 60s or so, I loose count... and just bought another one today in fact.

3. This'll probably surprise some people: I was on a news broadcast once. From commercial to commercial. In fact, I argued with the lady who was the guest speaker. I think cnn enjoyed the repartee otherwise I think I'd been pulled off by security.

WOW that is a lot of plants!! Do you have favorites? Or do you love them all equally?

I think my favourites are my Pony Tail palms, the zz plant, crown of thorns cacti and this cacti that has a lot of stumps in it. Today I bought a candy cane Christmas cactus. Its hard to have a favourite though because I do love most of them a lot. :) I think its sweet how you met hubby

1. I'm watching the Raptor game at the moment - so far so good against the Knicks. fingers crossed
2. I have two kitties - a tuxedo cat named Potter and a tortoise cat named Minerva. I'm actually trying to type this around Potter sprawled across my arms.
3. I actually participated in the RP without the incentive! This is new territory for me - I'm trying to get more comfortable with it. c:

I may post in the roleplay but in case I don't...

1. My first exposure to HP was the first movie at a friend's house when I was like 7.
2. I also broke my right arm when I was like 7. Very eventful childhood.
3. I thought I was Slytherin for most of my life until the past few years when quizzes indicated I was Hufflepuff. It's very fitting so I agree.

1. I originally wanted to see the first Harry Potter movie, not because I was interested in the series, but because I discovered that Alan Rickman was in it. (Then fell in love with the book series)
2. I once saw Katy Perry in Disneyland, waiting in line for the Indiana Jones ride.

1. I sold girl scout cookies to Flava Flav. They were peanut butter sandwiches and he bought two boxes.
2. I saw all of the Harry Potter movies before I read the books, which was during my senior year of high school and I read all seven of them in 3 months.
3. I am a recent college graduate and am currently playing the terror tango where I have things I want to do, but also crippling debt that doesn't simply get paid off with love and passion.

2. I was chosen to participate in the Ollivander's wand ceremony at Wizarding World Universal Studios, and I got chosen by this cool wand with a skull on it.

3. I just recently left my horrible retail job to go back to school and finally get my graphic design degree!

1. At first I didn't think I would like Harry Potter. My friends said I should read the books but I didn't start reading them till the fourth one was out. I found a book at the goodwill and figured why not. So I bought the book and the rest is history.

2. I have 5 pets - 2 cat, a dog, and 2 carnival goldfish (who are huge and over 2 years old)

3. I am more excited by a new vacuum than any type of jewelry.

1. My grandma actually introduced me to Harry Potter. She had been in Scotland for summer 2000 and visited Alnwick Castle and heard they filmed a movie about a young wizard there. Back home, she got the books that were already released and started reading them, then recommended them to me.

2. I like cleaning and dirty places disturb me.

3. I know the map of London underground better than the one of the nearest city to my hometown. XD

I plan on joining the RP later, but for now I will post three things about myself.

1. I recently bought a house with my fiancé and let me tell you, when people say buying a house is just an endless list of projects, they aren't kidding. We have spent all of our free time doing house projects and the list is NOT getting smaller, hahaha.

2. My fiancé and I have never been on a true "vacation" together, we have been dating for almost 7 years and have gone on trips, mostly to visit his family but never a true vacation so in January we will be going to Hawaii for our first official enjoyment vacation :)

3. I have an 11 month old catahoula leopard rescue dog, named Kato and a 3 year old black cat named Binx (like Hocus Pocus) and we are thinking of getting another rescue dog so our little guy has a lifemate :)

oooh let's see

1. I have two cats, the older one had an accident just before I had my finals and had to have his left front paw amputated. He's perfectly fine now and looks a little silly when he walks. the younger one is completely white and I got him because my best friend moved to Slovenia to live with her boyfriend and couldn't take the little one with her.
2. for my graduation project I moved to London and lived/worked there for 8 months. (I am from the Netherlands so it wasn't that far away)
3. I spend far too much time reading novels and I should really get a job because I am basically out of money hahahah 😓

as for the foods I'll take any, I'm not picky :D

Three things is a great idea, let's see...

1. I only wanted to read HP in the beginning because someone told me there was a three headed dog in the first book. Didn't actually end up reading the other books till after some of the movies came out. But now there is no going back and I have a shrine on my bookcase that annoys my boyfriend XD

2. I love creating things and I hope that someday I'll find an outlet that can support me as a job, and that also helps support other creatives. Talk to me about art things and I'll never shut up.

3. Holographic things give me the tingles. I'm unapologetically obsessed with rainbows, unicorns and cat stuff.

That's so crazy and coincidental to have met your husband in such a cute way. I know a lot of people whos' lives were changed by HP. I also met my husband online (on an MMORPG) hence my living in France. (Does that count as fact n°1?) :D

2. I have 1 dog and two cats. My dog is my baby, and she's an irreplaceable part of my day. (I'm more of a dog person)

3. I'm pretty socially awkward despite trying my best. I always seem to say the wrong things at the wrong time, or don't know what to say to people I've just met. It's very annoying and then of course I overthink it after. (Speaking of, the RP is going nicely, it's a lot of information to take in but I'll try to take part!)
